“The Bible is very easy to understand. But we Christians are a bunch of scheming swindlers. We pretend to be unable to understand it because we know very well that the minute we understand, we are obliged to act accordingly.”
Soren Kierkegaard, Provocations: Spiritual Writings of Kierkegaard

You would never catch my mom just sitting around reading a book when I was a kid, but if you wandered into the living room early enough in the morning there she would be with enjoying her cup of coffee and her Bible reading before the day began.

Barring serious illness, I doubt she has missed a day.

I’ve had periods in my life where I was faithful in daily Bible reading but it has been awhile. So this seems like a good fit for my month of new habits.

If you have never read the entire Bible you would probably be surprised by the vast variety in there. I have read it cover to cover a few different times and I think that’s what I’ll do again this time.

I’m going to tag this on to the same time slot as daily prayer.
