One of my favorite writers as a teenager was Isaac Asimov. I loved the Foundation series and robot novels, but I treasured the various short story collections even more. One of my favorite parts was the little introductory paragraph he would write before each one.

It was like getting a little peek into the writer’s mind, a window into the creative process.

I’m not nearly as prolific as Asimov, but over the course of writing here, I’ve built up a slew of stories many of which have barely been read. I’ve decided to revisit my year of writing by working from past to present and sharing some of them along with my thoughts.

I spent my first day on Medium reading a bazillion stories and trying to figure out how things worked around here. On my second day, I pulled some material out of a long-defunct blog of mine and reworked them into a couple of Medium stories. The story below is one of those.

I still think it is a very useful life hack and a peek into family life with five opinionated people. My biggest surprise looking back now if how short it is. If I tackled the topic now I’d be forcing…
