Dancing the Blues Away
Habit #8 in my 30 day journey
“We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once.”
― Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
“Let us read, and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world.”
― Voltaire
“Do a loony-goony dance
‘Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
That ain’t been there before.”
― Shel Silverstein, A Light in the Attic
I need to add a little joy into my lockdown life so I’m going to start dancing daily.
Fun fact, my last 9–5 type job including teaching creative movement to preschoolers. Everyone should get a chance to experience the joy of dancing with toddlers. They don’t care how silly you look.
I have no natural sense of rhythm. Most of my growing up years were spent in schools where dancing was considered sinful. But music makes me happy.
So habit #8 is to pick a song and dance my heart out once a day. I think I’m going to do for a mid afternoon pick me up dance. I’ll set an alarm on my phone to remind me to drop everything and dance.
