Don’t Panic Buy Says the Government Leading to Immediate Panic Buying
Could long lines at the pump have been avoided?
“Listen up people,” said the UK government, “We are having a wee little problem finding enough truck drivers to deliver petrol. No one should panic. There is plenty of petrol and enough drivers to deliver it as long as everyone stays sensible and doesn’t panic buy.”
Fool me once, says the Brit who initially laughed about the great loo roll shortage of spring 2020 and then found themselves begging the neighbor to put a TP roll or two into a slingshot and catapult it over the garden fence.
“I’m off to the pumps, love,” he says grabbing his keys, “Pack me a sandwich or two and a thermos of tea, will you. This could take a while.”
We knew nothing when we blissfully set off Friday on an 80-mile trip. “We should probably fill up at the Esso up ahead,” I said. “We can make it much further but better safe than sorry.”
When we saw the lines 20 cars deep we decided to keep going. What was that all about? Then we saw it again. Weird. After the third time, we turned the radio on to see what was happening.
