First problem is the title. The second is the intro.

I'd love to see a curiosity provoking question for the title. Something like "How are the Climate Change Battle and Pokemon the same?"

There is a common problem with intros that I see a lot and battle myself. The writer starts with what lead them to write the story. Sometimes this is the right call but usually it doesn't matter to the reader.

In this case, given the publication you were writing for I think you needed to hit the climate chance angle right at the beginning to have a chance to hook writing.

Maybe you led with something about how you were deep into a climate chance book when your daughter reminded you of your promise to watch a movie. Begrudgingly you turned to the Pokemon and were surprised to see the parallels.

Also, I'd give way less movie background. Trim it to the bare minimum to make the comparisons. Focus more on the climate change connection.
