I found every bit of this highly relatable and I say that as someone who lives in the Covid isles and has traveled several times during the pandemic between the covid isles and the covid country (usa). As I read, I kept thinking about privilege. Your angry relative seems to want to drag everyone down to his unhappy state. You wish everyone could rise to your relatively carefreeish covid condition.
Which is the way it should be in my opinion. If you realize you are luckier than others shouldn't your response be to want everyone to have what you have. If you are miserable why would you wish that for others? People are weird.
