How do you love chocolate and lose weight without giving it up? Is there a way for healthy eating and chocolate to not only coexist but enhance each other? I found a method that worked for me.
What to do?
For my birthday a friend gave me a large box of gourmet chocolates. What a great friend right? What she didn’t know is that I had just committed myself to a weight loss journey. Of course, I accepted the chocolates with profuse thanks while the internal battle began.
I love chocolate. These were much fancier chocolates than I would ever buy for myself. I had 60 pounds to lose. That would take way too long to set the chocolates aside as a reward for the end of the journey. It was a birthday gift. Don’t I deserve a treat for my birthday?
My solution
I set the box aside for about a week as I pondered the problem when I had a stroke of genius. I roped in my teenage daughter as a very willing accomplice. Each night after dinner I carefully selected one chocolate from the large box. I took a tiny bite and savored it fully, letting the flavors melt in my mouth and linger.
