I Love Jazz So Why Don’t I Listen to It More Often
Expanding my musical horizons is a blast.
Great albums and road trips go together like chocolate and peanut butter. Put me in the car and I want music. The only challenge is deciding what to listen to. I’m currently undertaking a year-long music challenge of listening, beginning to end, in one shot, any album recommended to me.
The problem with travel and music listening is I rarely road trip alone so there are negotiations required. My husband loves podcasts and he does most of the driving. The driver controls the audio. It’s only fair. So we listen to podcasts until he’s all caught up.
Thankfully he listens to podcasts all the time so on a long trip he’s sure to run out and we turn to music. Now the challenge is picking an album he’ll like since he isn’t as committed to expanding his musical horizons as I am. Thankfully all the albums below were winners.
Kind of Blue
When I glanced over the list of recommended albums sitting in my queue, Kind of Blue by Miles Davis jumped out immediately. We both like jazz and this is a classic. Thanks for the recommendation @jandrewshelley.
Listening to this one reminded me of how much I enjoy straight-up traditional jazz. Davis is consistently creative…
