I loved your practical suggestions. I'm surprised it didn't do better in Family Matters which is a publication I really like to submit to. Interestingly, I have found that my straight up practical articles there haven't done as well as the ones where I mix my personal story with practical advice.
The biggest suggestion I have is to change the opening. You lead with statistics. I'd consider hitting with an emotional story right off the bat. "Five weeks postpartum I was ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Literally. I loved my daughter but I was drowning in the deep end. My sister showed up with a pile of Pampers at just the right moment. She scooped the baby out of my arms, hugged me and said, "Get in the shower." Thanks to Covid I may not be able to hold my friends newborn but I can at least bring the Pampers."
Something like that. I got a little carried away, but I think you see what I mean.
