I thought this was a great article and well written.

It is a somewhat saturated topic but I do think you had a fresh take.

My guess is that the problem is that it is was different than your typical writing.

I have had the experience of seeing a topic be popular on Medium and thinking to myself, I have something interesting to say on that topic and so I jump in, write my heart out, get accepted into a pub and then crickets.

I think jumping into a new for you niche can be almost like being a total newbie. I do it anyway from time to time because it's good for my writing to stretch myself and it won't hurt me to have a few well written (in my mind if no one elses) stories flop.
