I'm going to start by saying that I'm totally out of my depth here. I don't read poetry on Medium very often so I'm not really familiar with what does and doesn't make it take off.

But for Medium in general, it's never just about the contents, it's also about how you get it seen. Being new to the platform and not posting in a publication I'm impressed you got as many views as you did.

I would have flipped your title and your subtitle and then put POEM as a kicker. Titles on Medium are all about making people click. Being attracted to and burned by someone depressed and brooding is pretty universal.

I absolutely adore your first stanza by the way. When you told me you wrote a rhyming poem I was all set to grit my way through it, but I love the way you played with language.
