***Disclaimer: The author has many trans individuals in her life whom she loves, respects, and whose language she has regard for. But pronouns and honorifics can be hard to use correctly. As Mother Theresa or somebody older than 30 once said, “the spirit is willing, but the hippocampus is weak.” But this piece is in NO way saying we should not make every attempt to use someone’s gender-neutral pronouns or honorifics. In fact, it’s saying we should.
