Often a writer resonates with me and then I realize we have something in common. We have both spent time as children or adults living in a country other than that of our birth. We have adult children in college or fresh out of it. We love tea in a coffee-drinking world. We have faced grief in the loss of a loved one. We are passionate about embracing LGBTQ rights. We are people of faith. We have loved and walked alongside someone struggling with mental health.

The list could go on and on. Sometimes I don’t even realize something is fundamental to who I am until I read its expression by another writer and then I struggle to write a comment more meaningful than, “Oh my gosh! You too?”

Ivery del Campo lives in my beloved Philippines, the land not of my birth but of my childhood. This simple fact is what first drew me to her but her beautiful writing is why I stayed. Check out her work and I think you will agree.
