If you like your daily dose of wisdom embedded in personal stories, Jackie Madden Haugh is the writer for you! I would rather read a well-written and relatable snippet from someone’s life with a gentle nudge at improving my own perspective or circumstance, than plow through another self-improvement post any day.

Growing up I had three big brothers, but always longed for a big sister. A big sister would show me the way and be a guide as I grew up. She would teach me how to properly shave my legs and talk to boys. Never mind the fact that I wasn’t that kind of big sister to the siblings who followed me. I tried but that is a story for another day.

I muddled along without a big sister just fine. Now, as I face the transition to empty nest and the second half or less of life, statistically speaking, I’m finding this platform to be full of big sisters giving me all sorts of useful guidance about how to embrace and enjoy life as I age. Now I can add Jackie to the list.
