I am not a master of the one-liner so I’m in awe when I run across someone who is. Jessica Conaway won my heart with the best call to subscribe I’ve ever come across:

Seriously! How do you top that for an actual understanding of and appeal to your market?

Jessica writes fiction, humor, and personal essays with vivid detail, emotion, and a strong biting sense of humor. Here are some of my favorites:

Don’t forget, I have to work the late shift tonight at the only hospital in town. That’s why I’m wearing these freshly pressed, form-fitting scrubs.

There’s leftover meatloaf in the fridge, right next to the single quart of milk that inexplicably sustains us for weeks, and don’t forget that you have to take your little sister Tammy to her girl scout meeting, and then to soccer practice, and then please take her trick-or-treating and then make sure she gets her homework done and in bed at a reasonable hour.
