Nibbling on the Good Stuff Every Time I Open My Fridge
Reflecting on habit #5 in my 30-day journey
I enjoy snacking. Who doesn’t right? So challenging myself to snack on healthy options was a good idea for a habit.
The idea was to keep washed greens, celery, and carrot sticks in the fridge so every time I opened the door I would naturally take a handful of something healthy to munch on.
I worked like a charm. I easily added another serving or two of veggies to my daily diet and prevented myself from choosing less nutritious alternatives.
The biggest challenge was having veggies on hand. One of our pandemic splurges was to start weekly delivery of a veggie box from a local farm. It’s been great to experiment with a wide variety of vegetables. Who knew I’d love parsnips? I thought I didn’t like beets. Turns out I devour roasted beets
I added washing and cutting up veggie munchies to my evening clean up the kitchen routine which worked out pretty well.
5 out of 5 on keeper habits, but stay tuned. Tomorrow is when my stats start the downward spiral.
