No one is allowed to cancel shows but the businesses making money and building their brand by what they choose to air. Part of free speech means the market decides. Businesses cancel shows not because one person writes a letter but because more people are offended than delighted and thus turn away from the content.

No one has the right to be offensive and get paid for it. How are the people campaigning against canceling a show because they like the sentiments of the artist any more relevant than those campaigning against it?

I'm not actually a big fan of campaigns to remove art. I cancelled my own Netflix account and told Netflix the Closer was the reason why. I'm not out there telling anyone else to do the same. I'm just not willing to have a dime of my money go to support language which leads people to suicide. It's a personal choice.

Chapelle (and please note, I'm only mentioning him because he is current right now. Many people are way worse) is making a lot of money being intentionally transphobic. Netflix is making a business decision that airing his material pleases more people than it offends. Fine. I'm not taking away anyone's right to do all of the above. But I won't support it myself.

This is why my title. Say what you want but I don't have to like you, or send a dime your direction, or send a dime to any platform which serves up your content.
