Oh this resonates so very very much. We went the opposite direction due to Covid. We had half a year of empty nest then suddenly our college student came home in March 2020 and she hasn't left yet.

It was nice to have her back but I mourned my ability to never close a door when I didn't feel like it. And the freedom of meal times whenever, whatever.
