Challenge yourself to choose three good events from each day and you quickly learn what brings you pleasure and happiness. For me, it is apparently food.

Each night when I pulled out my notebook and pondered what to write the first thing that leaped to mind was often food. Here are a few notations from my journal:

  • Delicious burgers eaten right near the water in St. Ives.
  • Nice lunch at a pub we’ve been wanting to get to
  • Yummy homemade pizza
  • Homemade scones & clotted cream
  • Delicious tacos & margaritas for dinner
  • Tasty quiche that used up several veggies
  • First BBQ of the year

That’s just a sampling. I don’t write about food every day, but it certainly comes up often. Clearly, I enjoy eating.

Coming up with three positives from the day each evening was a fairly easy undertaking. Remember to so was a bit more challenging. Even after a month, this habit isn’t fully solidified. I’ll find myself in bed and remember I didn’t journal. Rather than get out of bed, I’ve been mentally noting the three and writing them down in the morning.
