One Month of Making Daily Progress on Laundry

Reflecting on habit #3 in my 30-day journey

I have conquered the laundry monster. Laundry is still a relentless task. Even as I put away every last bit of folded clean clothing, I am still wearing items headed for the laundry basket at bedtime. But I have managed through this habit to change my attitudes towards the laundry.

Every clear day I hang a load of laundry on the line to dry. Every time I walk past the window to get another cup of tea I see the heavily laden line blowing in the breeze and smile. I accomplished something. I am being environmentally responsible.

Even today, when the background music of my writing is the sound of the dryer tumbling my clothes due to the drizzle outside, I know I can choose any item of clothing to wear tomorrow because almost everything is clean and folded.

I’m still not great about putting things away but since I use our guest bedroom as my husband’s walk-in closet and the queen-sized bed as a folding and stacking station, this really isn’t a big problem. Life will get a bit more complicated at the end of the month when my newly graduated from college daughter comes to visit for a few weeks before starting her job.

Daily attention to laundry has been more of an attitude shift than anything else. Spreading the work out and staying on top of folding clothes has brought joy to my life. This habit is definitely a keeper.

This brings me to 3 out of 3 for habits so far.
