Sometimes I wonder what the Medium experience is like for someone who is a reader only. I agree with you that my feed is full of Medium advice but when I first got here that is what I mostly wanted to read because I was trying to figure things out.

So that's what Medium recommends. I've branched out in my interests but I'll still read a Medium focused article if it catches my eye so it is still a common recommendation.

In other words, how much of it is a self created problem? Is Medium really mostly people writing about Medium or is that just what Medium shows me because that's what I trained the computer to think I want.

Even posting in Feedium, which in many ways specializes in Medium focused writing, adds to the chance that Medium will feed us Medium focused writing.

Medium is a huge playground. I don't think the problem is too many people writing Medium focused articles, it is choosing to read them and the fact that it takes a long time for algorithm to recognize that your tastes have changed.

And I've written Medium articles and will continue to do so when I feel I have something unique and useful to say. I write more on other topics but I've noticed the algorithm recommends based on what I write as well as what I read so I suspect the very act of writing this article probably made your situation worse.

It isn't an easy problem to solve.
