Stories Have Power to Bring Light to the Darkness

I read these two unconnected stories back to back and they gave me life

I read to be entertained, distracted, educated, uplifted, enlightened, moved. sometimes all of the above. Most stories wash over me and are gone as quickly as they appeared. Sometimes you read the right thing at just the right time.

Or, as happened to me just now, you read two stories back to back which hit you hard in all the best ways.

First, I came across this gem from Eric Pierce. I could highlight every bit of it I think. So much in my life is so very very good. I’ve been off the grid with very limited internet for the past ten days and coming up to a world where hatred, evil, and a willingness to be cruel and selfish just because you can, is a bit hard to take.

Pierce reminds me of the power of story to soothe, to get us through our moments of doubt and despair, to keep us going. And he linked to the Superman theme song which I had no idea I so desperately needed to hear to restore my faith.
