Never, ever, start a story without an interesting and engaging hook.

Number one: Rules smules

I like to know the writing rules and I like to break them.

Number two: Covid sucks

I currently have Covid and despite being triple vaxxed it has knocked every ounce of energy out of my body. I can manage a little writing because only my fingers are really moving.

Ten minutes ago my wireless keyboard batteries died and I nearly gave up on writing for the day. The thought of standing up and walking into the room next door, pulling open the well-organized battery drawer for a pair of freshly charged batteries, and then walking all the way back to my computer to install them, seemed like way too much physical effort for one day.

Somehow I managed to get the job done. It’s a struggle.

Number three: I like writing challenges

I’m writing this story because it is step one on the Salt Path Journey Book Club Thingy dreamed up by Scot Butwell. Despite number one above I’m a pretty good rule follower if I either set the rules myself or voluntarily…
