Thanks for this. I'm currently editing my first novel which falls definitively in the women's fiction camp. No magical realism though. I found myself very consciously using a reverse Bechdel test. Everything is clearly seen through the eyes of women. There are men, and no male bashing, but the perspective is decidedly female and that's been refreshingly fun to write.
