The G7 Summit is Scaring the Meerkats

Why do we always worry about the wrong threats?

Aircraft of various sizes and descriptions bearing important world leaders and their entourages are streaming above and the Meerkats are concerned. What is this new threat overhead? Best send the alarm and run for cover.

“The Meerkats are quite worried by the uptick in air traffic due to the G7,” explained the interpreter as some meerkats stood sentry duty and others pawed at her boots hoping to find a stray mealworm or other of the treasures she had recently strewn around their habitat.

“Here at the sanctuary they are protected from most predators but they still take turns standing watch and warning the mob of any threats. Buzzards do fly overhead and could easily swoop down and pick off a meerkat although that hasn’t happened yet. Our meerkats have gotten used to the buzzards and don’t bother to sound an alarm anymore.”

“These jets though. One came through flying low this morning and the sentinel immediately gave the flee alert. All the meerkats immediately scampered into their den. It was quite funny really. A buzzard who could easily nab one is ignored while a big jet posing no real threat they worry about.”

Maybe the jets carrying politicians to the summit in Carbis Bay aren’t an immediate…
