Pushups are weight lifting using my body as the weight. In my case, that means some pretty hefty lifting.
There is a reason I left this habit to the middle of the month. I knew I needed the two weeks of planks to prepare.
Everyone agrees that pushups done right are an excellent exercise. Heathline.com puts it this way:
Traditional pushups are beneficial for building upper body strength. They work the triceps, pectoral muscles, and shoulders. When done with proper form, they can also strengthen the lower back and core by engaging (pulling in) the abdominal muscles.
Pushups are a fast and effective exercise for building strength. They can be done from virtually anywhere and don’t require any equipment.
The trick, as with most things, lies in that pesky phrase, “with proper form.”
