There is a lot to really like in your story. The length is about perfect. You share just enough about each book to do the job. Well crafted and useful.

Here's my speculation. The no following when first posting is big as you already know. I also suspect your title hurt you. Medium seems to prefer titles that are a little more understated. Using both "outstanding" and "absolutely need" would be enough to keep me from clicking on the story.

In contrast to your title, your intro could use a little spicing up. Convince me I want to read your recommendations. Lots of people recommend various books on writing. Why should I read your recommendations?
