This is such a tough place to be. I've been there twice. Sometimes the bright ones fall the hardest. But there is hope. I had one kid sent home during freshman year. She ended up becoming a software engineer hired by one of the biggest companies in tech. Another was on academic probation then suspended. She's in graduate school now. When you are in the middle of this all feels lost but there is hope. No guarantees you get a success story eventually which is what makes it all so damn hard, but know that it is possible. Most important is being kind to yourself and kind to your kid. This isn't laziness no matter what it looks like to outsiders.
