As written it is focused on you and your memories of your MIL. That doesn't fly on Medium until you have a big following.

In this case there is an easy fix. You actually have great writing advice in here with a personal story to back it up. That's golden.

Rethink everything from the perspective of the reader. Write an opening that promises value if they keep reading.
