To Kill a Mockingbird is trending on Twitter and that’s problematic. When I noticed it tending I thought, dang it there goes the afternoon. I’m going to have to write about this. There a reason this book is greatly beloved but there is also a reason its day has passed. Thankfully I decided to do a quick search before writing my tirade and found Will Menarndt had already done it way better than I could. I think we should be able to acknowledge that a work of art moved us deeply but is also deeply problematic.
