What Happened When I Wrote About a New Habit Every Day for a Month?

Reflecting on habit #1 from my 30-day journey

Any 30-day challenge worth anything will come with a few surprises. My first surprise was how much I gained from writing a short post about my new habit each day.

I added my last new habit yesterday. My original plan was to write a brief post every day detailing my new habit. At the end of the month, I’d write a summary post, and maybe another summary post a month later after I had done all the habits for a full month and that would be it.

The daily post was simply a way to keep me accountable. I was worried writing these short habit posts would take away from my productivity and I would end up posting less regular stories. But I decide to do it anyway.

The reality ends up being almost as many regular posts as last month, twice the profits, and my best performing story yet. My theory is that starting out the day with a fast and easy write-up primed the creative pump and gave me a quick boost of accomplishment that carried me through the day.

Kind of like the way making your bed is supposed to be this magic thing that gets you going in the right direction each morning.
