I haven’t done a review of a writer in a while now but I have a winner for you all today. Orrin Onken is full of laugh-out-loud humor and realism about life in retirement.
Please don’t skip Onken because you’re young. We do too much shuffling off into our own niche corners these days and thinking we don’t have much to gain from different perspectives. Whether you are retired yourself, just beginning to look that direction or have barely dipped your toes into the adult world you will laugh and learn along with him.
We hit the road at the crack of noon after leaving grandchild, Kevin, in charge of watering the plants, feeding the dog and protecting the homestead from roaming hordes of Mongols. We leave Kevin thirty hand-written pages of directions and then take one last look at our beloved home just in case it doesn’t survive Kevin.
