It is easy to find stories telling you how to increase your follower count. But what about advice on who to follow? Your following list determines what populates your homepage. Who you follow has a huge impact on what stories you will see. So you want to create a following list that fits your interests and your needs.
My goal is to create a diverse list of people I follow. I want big names and those just starting out. I include some people whose writing I appreciate so much I’ll click on them every time I see their name and others whose titles have to earn my view.
So how does a writer end up on my following list and what does that have to teach us about how we can increase our own follower count?

Some people advocate randomly following as many people as possible in hopes that a certain percentage will follow you back. After all, as a newbie you need eyes on your stories to have any hope of success. Many others point out if the followers don’t really care about your work, they will never click on your stories so what’s the point.
