Why Wait? Lift Weights! Don’t be a Dumbbell!

If you want to build strength, weights are going to be involved. I can tell that my arms are stronger now with just ten days of planking. It’s time to kick it up a notch so I’m adding in some light lifting.

Unfortunately, it’s still a pandemic so the gym is not an option I’m willing to consider. I don’t have a weight room at home but I do have a set of dumbbells. Currently, they live under my desk where I am inclined to stub my toes on them regularly thus reminding myself that I should be using them.

No pain no gain but stubbed toes don’t lead to gain either. I’m going to have to pick up those puppies and use them.

In keeping with my overall theme of going big by adding a new habit each day this month, but going small in the actual habits to make it easier to stick with them, I’m going to start with dumbbell lifts I can do while sitting down. After I do my squats while watching the evening news I’ll add some dumbbell action.

There are several exercises on the Healthline site. I plan to try palms up and palms down wrist curls, bicep curls, overhead extension, front raise, and military press. I’m going…
