Yes, everyone gets ignored by salespeople sometimes. Yes, it might not be racism. But the thing is when you aren't white you always know any slight might be racism. That weighs you down in a way white people can't get.

I think white people think it is helpful to tell black people about the times they too were ignored as if that makes it all better. It makes it worse because now you feel disrepected by people who have never walked in your shoes.

My adopted sister is black. I am 100% treated differently when I shop with her. This is not all in Black people's minds.
