You say honest question so I'll give you an honest answer. Ignoring all the systemic racism in your question there is still a huge value to any company in considering a black job candidate that looks weaker on paper than a white candidate. Changes are statistically very very high that the white candidate has received a great deal of help in reaching those goals. The deck was stacked in their favor. This doesn't mean they didn't work to achieve their level of competence but it is extremely unlikely that they have pushed through as much to get to their level as the black candidate did to reach your final round. An employee who has faced adversity and pushed through is someone who will be able to serve your company well. What matters is what someone will do while working for you. Do you want someone who can adapt to your companies needs? Someone who doesn't quit when things get tough. Someone who works harder than those around them. Do you want people in your company who can give you insight into the Black community or the minority experience?
