More Oldies But Goodies

A look back at my early days here

I’m time traveling back to my earliest days on this platform and sharing thoughts about the stories I wrote back before anyone was reading. Click here for installment #1.

I started writing in 2020 to process my emotions after the death of my brother. But instead of stories about Tim, I kept returning to memories of my dad who died a decade ago. Loss is connected and you never grieve one person without the other deaths in your life crashing in.

This is still one of my favorite titles even though it meets none of the standard grab your audience criteria. More than a year later I still struggle to strike the balance between writing for myself and writing for an audience. I wouldn’t change this title though, mostly because my dad’s name is Bob.

Here’s another one about my dad. This was first written for a now-defunct blog. I wrote it about a year after my dad died but the memories are still fresh now. I can’t eat oatmeal without thinking about him.
